The Massachusetts General Hospital Lunder Building Project is a 516,000 sq. ft. inpatient building located on the existing Massachusetts General Hospital campus. Approximately 170,000 sq. ft. of existing buildings were demolished to make way for the up-down construction of the new building.
The Lunder Building increases the Emergency Department capacity by 16,000 sq. ft., with an additional 16 same-day surgery and interventional radiology suites, 28 new operating rooms, 22 new ICU rooms, 128 new patient rooms as well as a 35,000 sq. ft. combined Radiation/Oncology Department. This space includes 6 new linear accelerators and provisions for future Proton. The project also included a new Central Sterilization Department and loading dock facility, which serves the entire campus. The Lunder Building project was awarded LEED Gold.
