This renovation project consisted of the second and third floor of the library at Douglas College in New Westminster, a total of 49,500 sq. ft. space. The scope of work included the supply and installation of a new ceiling system including replacement of the dry sprinkler, light fixtures, carpets, and entrance. Additional architectural upgrades involved the installation of steel, vinyl, and wood paneling, a renovation to offices, shelving unit installation, and custom millwork is required, along with mechanical, electrical and data upgrades.The project was scheduled during the Summer and Fall session so the construction noise needed to be managed accordingly. VDC was engaged to help model the 3D wall which was a design concept from Kasian and not worked out in terms of constructibility. They helped us figure out what was possible, how the pieces fit together and what size/shape/angle the pieces needed to be at to work.
