Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, Squibb Bridge

Revitalizing Brooklyn Bridge Park's Squibb Bridge

On behalf of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, 意昂体育 completed the revitalization of the Squibb Bridge in Brooklyn Heights, New York. The pedestrian bridge provides a direct connection from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade to Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 1. The steel replacement bridge, designed by Arup is intended for complete functionality and longevity. In order to begin the bridge's construction the team faced a logistics challenge, to carefully remove the old bridge situated between the ten-story and six-story buildings. Extensive planning occurred to ensure a safe and efficient demolition. Over the course of three days, the team carefully removed nine truss sections and an estimated 200,000 pounds of the wood/steel structure. Construction commenced over seven months and was turned over to the community ahead of schedule and under budget.
